Ronald Reagan was an American politician, actor, social personality, and the 40th President of the United States of America. He was born in 1911 in Illinois and grew up in the family of Irish immigrants, alongside his elder brother Neil. After graduation from college Ronald worked as a radio commentator but was dreaming about a career in acting. For that, in 1937 he moved to California and started being invited to join various cinema and TV projects. For his short career, Reagan appeared in almost 70 movies and about 20 TV films, as well as a host of various TV programs like General Electric Theater. In the 1950s he started receiving administrative positions in the Actors Guild related organizations and decided to try himself in politics becoming first a Democrat and then switching to the Republican Party. His main ideology was anti-Communist one. In 1967 Reagan was elected the Governor of California and served 2 terms in office till winter 1975.

In 1980 after a massive promotional campaign Ronald Reagan won the elections and became the 40th Presidents of the US. The economic changes introduced by him received the name Reaganomics which proved to be successful and improved the country's economy to a great extent. Foreign policies of Reagan included ending up the Cold War and involving in constant tensions in the Middle East. Ronald Reagan was re-elected in 1985 and continued his reforms till the end of the decade. By the end of his term he enjoyed the national support of about 68 per cent of the population. After resigning from politics in the early 1990s, Ronald Reagan was diagnosed with progressing Alzheimer's disease. He stopped appearing on public in the late 1990s and passed away in summer 2004, at the age of 93.
