Robert Anthony de Niro Junior is a legendary American actor, produce, and movie director of Italian-Irish origin. He grew up in a family of two successful artists in Manhattan, and in his early childhood he dreamed about becoming an actor. Thus, after finishing high school de Niro attended Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler acting courses. His cinema debut took place in 1970, with the movies Three Rooms in Manhattan and Bloody Mama. Shortly after, his childhood friend Martin Scorsese invited de Niro to star in his early movie Mean Streets. This role attracted the attention of Frank Coppola, a famous movie director, who offered de Niro to join his cast for The Godfather II. The movie was an overwhelming success and brought De Niro his first Academy Award. By the end of the 1970s, De Niro has played a bunch of different kinds of characters, starting from gangsters (Mean Streets), a taxi driver (Taxi Driver), a soldier (Deer Hunter), or a musician (New York, New York). He can portray poor and rich (The Last Tycoon or 1900), drama and comedy characters (The King of Comedy and Meet the Parents), and many would agree to the fact that best roles of de Niro were performed by him in the movies of Scorsese, like Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, and Cape Fear. Robert De Niro is a successful movie director, a political activist and a businessman who has a few restaurants and a large movie producing agency.
