Daniel Michael DeVito, known professionally as Danny DeVito, is an American actor, comedian, producer, and director. He was born in 1944 in New Jersey and began his acting career in the early 1970s with small film roles. Early recognition came from his performances in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Goin’ South, both alongside Jack Nicholson.

DeVito rose to wide fame after joining the cast of the television series Taxi, a role that earned him a Golden Globe Award. During the 1980s and 1990s, he became a major film star, appearing in Romancing the Stone, The War of the Roses (with Michael Douglas), Tin Men, Twins (with Arnold Schwarzenegger), followed by new roles in the projects like Batman Returns (with Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer), Jack the Bear, Last Action Hero and Junior (with Schwarzenegger), Renaissance Man, Space Jam (with Michael Jordan), The Rainmaker (with Matt Deamon), Living Out Loud (with Queen Latifah), and Drowning Mona. 

Danny DeVito can manage perfectly well with a role in a comedy or in an action movie. Among the latest works of his, the ones like Big Fish, Even Money (with Kim Basinger and Ray Liotta), The Good Night (with Gwyneth Paltrow), Just Add Water, Housebroken, All the Wilderness, etc. He is also well known for his role in the cult TV series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and remains active as a producer and occasional director.
